To be able to start catching the mini game key holding rabbits, you must first talk to toad in the room after princess peach\rquote s secret slide (1 star required) Each character will be able to catch 7 rabbits (only 6 for Luigi), making a total of 35 mini games, including the 2 mini games each character starts with.  The rabbits will vary in places and color, yellow for Yoshi, red for Mario, green for Luigi, and brownish for Wario, and will all be located in different areas.  The rabbits will only come out when the person who\rquote s color is represented in the rabbit is being controlled, meaning if you are Mario you cannot get rabbits that are green for Luigi.\par

These special rabbits are quite different from the regular rabbits Mario and his friends catch for mini game keys.  There are 8 of these in total, and they pop up randomly in place of other rabbits.  In other words, if a room has a rabbit for Wario, if you enter that room there could be a shiny rabbit there instead.  They will start popping up randomly after you collect about 80 stars (enough to beat the game), taking the place of any other rabbit.  The reward for catching all 8 of these rabbits is a key to the unoccupied room in the Princess\rquote s Secret Slide room, near the character doors.  Inside of the door is a star, which is important for those who want to collect all 150 stars.  \par

\ul Tips for collecting Shiny Rabbits:\par
\pard{\pntext\f2\'B7\tab}{\*\pn\pnlvlblt\pnf2\pnindent360{\pntxtb\'B7}}\nowidctlpar\fi-360\li360\sl240\slmult1\ulnone First, use Yoshi, as the tongue is a great advantage.  \par
{\pntext\f2\'B7\tab}The best time to start collecting them is after you beat all of the levels and get all 8 (including the coin stars) in each, but that doesn\rquote t mean you have to.\par
{\pntext\f2\'B7\tab}Catching them is only a matter of patience, as if you follow the statement above, all you have to do is go in a room with a rabbit that pops up in it, and either collect an already collected star or die.  Each time you enter the painting, the rabbit data refreshes, meaning one time it could be a regular mini game rabbit, and the other time it could be a shiny rabbit.  I personally used Mario, and stayed in the room near level 10 (Snowman\rquote s Land), and followed this tactic until I got the rest of the rabbits I was missing.\par
{\pntext\f2\'B7\tab}This does not mean that you cant catch 1 if you see it randomly while roaming the castle.  I encourage and hope that you find them during your journey, instead of waiting afterwards, making the work more tedious.\par

Unlocking Mario/Luigi/Wario  \tab             /\par

Right now I\rquote m not going to go into detail about the levels themselves, that will be in the next section, but I will tell you where each portrait is and how to beat the boss of each.\par
\par
\ul Mario\ulnone - First character you will unlock.  With Yoshi head over to the Rec Room where toad is, and go in the corner to find a door (8 stars are needed to enter) go inside and jump into the Mario picture.  Go through the level and you will end up fighting a giant goomba.  To beat him, eat up one of his minions (regular sized goombas) and then shoot the egg at him, while trying not to get hit or fall in the middle.  Beat him and get the door to unlock Mario\rquote s room.\par
\par
\ul Luigi\ulnone - To unlock Luigi first you must enter the 5\super th\nosupersub  level (Big Boo\rquote s Haunt) located outside in the back.  Go in the mansion and up the stairs with Mario.  Then go into the room all the way to the right.  Inside on the bottom right corner do a wall jump and land on the platform at the top, or grab the flower in the red box and float up there.  Go through the door and to your right will be the Luigi picture.  Enter it.  Go through the level and then end up at the boss.  All it is is another Big Boo fight, except most of the time you will have to use the image in the mirror to know where he is.  So hit him 3 times and then grab the key.  From there go and unlock Luigi\rquote s door, because you will need him to get\'85\par

\ul Wario\ulnone - First off you need to beat Bowser a second time, because you will need to go upstairs.  Once this is done, head up there and head to the room where level 10 (Snowman\rquote s Land) is.  On the pedestals will be flowers.  Get a flower and you will turn invisible, and then go through the mirror (and we thought it would never be done ^^).  Inside the mirror go to the right side and enter the Wario picture.  Go through the level and get to the boss.  To beat this boss all you gotta do is push it off the sides.  Best way is to simply punch when it starts running at you (with good timing of course) and keep moving forward until it is off.  You will get the key and be able to use all 4 of the main characters of the game. \par
